I have been contacted by someone who claims to work for Ofcom. How can I be sure this is genuine?
There are some occasions when you may be contacted by Ofcom staff.
For example, if you have filled out an online complaint form, we may contact you for more details.
You could also be contacted by one of our field engineers if a source of interference is traced to your property.
However, fraudsters have also occasionally targeted consumers claiming to work for Ofcom.
In certain cases they have claimed to be working on specific Ofcom investigations and have tried to get customers to cancel their phone contracts or pay money to their service providers.
If you’re concerned that you have been targeted by such a scam, ring the Ofcom Advisory Team on 0300 123 3333 and let us know the details.
