Online Safety

Can people see what sites I visit?

Family with computerPeople can view what websites have been visited on your computer by looking at your browsing history.

However, you can delete your history if you wish, via the ‘tools’ option in your internet browser.

In addition, your surfing habits can also be tracked legitimately, by your internet service provider, or illegally, for example if you have spyware installed on your machine.

Ofcom supports Get Safe Online – a joint initiative between the Government, the Serious Organised Crime Agency, and public and private sector sponsors.

Get Safe Online raises awareness of internet security, and helps individuals and smaller businesses in the UK to use the internet confidently and safely.

You can learn more and get online safety tips at the Get Safe Online website.
